Reiki

A gentle energy therapy offering time to rest, reset and reconnect with yourself — in person or at a distance.

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a gentle complementary therapy based on the idea of working with universal life-force energy.

During a Reiki session, I work with your energy field using light touch or by holding my hands just above the body. The aim is not to diagnose or treat illness, but to create a calm, supportive space where you can relax and simply be for a while.

For some people, Reiki feels deeply spiritual. For others, it is simply a peaceful hour away from the noise of everyday life.

You do not need to believe in anything in particular for the session to be meaningful to you.

Reiki may be especially appealing during times of stress, illness, uncertainty, emotional overwhelm or major life change.

And sometimes, you do not need a reason at all.

Wanting some time for yourself is enough.

A one-off session will undoubtedly have benefits but a course of sessions will increase not only the benefits but their permanence.

What Happens During an In-Person Reiki Session?

Your first session begins with a short consultation so we can talk about how you are feeling, any relevant health information and anything you would particularly like from the session.

You remain fully clothed and can lie comfortably on a treatment couch or sit in a chair if that feels better for you.

I then work through a series of hand positions, either placing my hands lightly on the body or holding them just above you.

Then there is nothing you need to do.

You can close your eyes, relax and let the rest of the world disappear for a little while.

Everyone experiences Reiki differently.

You may notice sensations such as warmth, coolness, tingling or heaviness. You may see colours or images, feel emotional, drift into a deeply relaxed state, or simply feel very still.

You may also notice very little during the session.

That is absolutely fine too.

There is no correct way to experience Reiki.

After your Session

When the session finishes, I will give you a little time before you get up.

Some people feel deeply relaxed or sleepy afterwards, while others feel refreshed, reflective or simply very calm.

You may want to take things gently for the rest of the day if you can, particularly if the session has left you feeling very relaxed.

There is no particular way you are supposed to feel afterwards.

Your experience is your own.

Distance Reiki

Distance Reiki is an important part of my practice, rather than simply an alternative for people who cannot attend in person.

It means we can work together wherever you are in the world.

Before your session, we will talk about how you are feeling and anything you would particularly like me to focus on.

At your appointment time, I recommend making yourself comfortable somewhere quiet if possible. You might lie down, curl up on the sofa, listen to relaxing music, meditate or simply close your eyes and rest.

You do not need to do anything special.

I then carry out your Reiki session remotely, working with the same intention, care and focus I bring to an in-person treatment.

Afterwards, we can talk about anything you noticed or experienced during the session.

And one of the loveliest things about Distance Reiki is what happens when we finish:

You do not have to go anywhere.

You can stay exactly where you are.

How Often Should You Have Reiki?

There is no set rule.

Some people book a Reiki session occasionally when they feel they need some space to themselves.

Others prefer regular sessions as part of their wellbeing routine.

If you are going through a particularly difficult period, you may choose to have sessions closer together for a while.

The frequency is entirely up to you.

There is no pressure to book a course or commit to a particular number of sessions.

Reiki and Cancer

Reiki has a particularly personal place in my own story.

I first experienced Reiki during chemotherapy after my first breast cancer diagnosis in 2004.

At the time, I had no idea what to expect. What stayed with me was how much I valued having somewhere I could switch off and feel like myself rather than a patient.

That experience eventually led me to train in Reiki myself.

I am now a Reiki Master Practitioner and Teacher, with additional training in Oncology Reiki.

Having experienced cancer treatment myself, I understand that sometimes what you need is not another conversation about treatment, appointments or how you are coping.

Sometimes you just need somewhere to lie down and be looked after for a while.

Reiki is a complementary therapy and is not intended to replace medical treatment or advice.

What Might Bring You to Reiki?

Depression

WW Cho Ku Ray

Reiki helps improve low mood, release emotional heaviness, and restore balance to both mind and body.

It encourages deep relaxation and helps you reconnect with a sense of inner calm and emotional control.

As a result, many clients report feeling lighter and more centered.

Anxiety

WW SHK Reiki

You do not need a diagnosis or a particular problem before booking Reiki.

People may feel drawn to it during times of:

  • Stress and overwhelm — when life feels busy, noisy or difficult to switch off from.
  • Illness or treatment — as a quiet, complementary form of support alongside medical care.
  • Emotional change — during grief, uncertainty, relationship changes or difficult periods in life.
  • Poor rest or difficulty unwinding — when you feel as though your mind never quite switches off.
  • Low energy — when you are feeling depleted and simply need time to stop.
  • Spiritual exploration — if you feel drawn to energy work, intuition or deeper connection with yourself.

Or you may simply love Reiki and want another session.

That works too.

Reiki gently soothes the nervous system, helping to reduce racing thoughts, tension in the body, and emotional overwhelm.

In many cases, it also supports more peaceful sleep and improves overall emotional stability. Even so, everyone’s experience is unique.

Cancer

WW Reiki for Cancer

Reiki can be deeply supportive alongside cancer treatment.

It may help relieve physical pain and treatment side effects, reduce stress and fear, and enhance rest and emotional well-being.

Many clients report improved sleep, which in turn supports the body’s natural healing processes.

Autoimmune

WW Reiki for Autoimmune diseases

For those living with chronic illness or autoimmune conditions, Reiki offers a supportive way to ease physical discomfort and inflammation.

As with all energy therapies, it can also reduce anxiety and fatigue, and help you feel more grounded and hopeful in your healing journey.
